The Walk for Kidney Health is a community event to raise awareness of kidney disease, recognize people affected by kidney disease, honor organ donors and remember those we have lost. Sponsorships, team fundraising and individual donations also support the Kidney Foundation of WNY’s outreach, education, patient support and advocacy programs.

This year's walk will take place Sunday, June 23 at the Lakeside Lawn of the Buffalo Outer Harbor. The morning's event will include music, recognition of kidney community heroes, community health resources, games, a one-mile fun walk and a timed 5K.

PARKING
Parking is available along Furhmann Boulevard and in a newly-paved event parking lot. For GPS navigation to the parking lot entrance, use the address 869 Fuhrmann Boulevard, Buffalo, NY 14203. 



START/FINISH
The event will take place at Lakeside Lawn on the Buffalo Outer Harbor. Runners will enjoy a scenic run/walk along the Buffalo waterfront. There will be one water station located along the course and bottled water will be provided to all participants at the finish line. The 5K Run will start at 8am and the 1 Mile Kidney Walk will start at 9:30am. A brand new USATF certified course is being designed due to construction at Wilkeson Point and will be posted here in the coming weeks.

REGISTRATION & PACKET PICKUP
Online registration will remain open right up until race day. Packet pickup will take place at Lakeside Lawn Park from 7:00am until the start of each race. 5K participants who register by Friday June 14th will be guaranteed to receive an official event shirt in their requested size. A small quantity of extra shirts will be ordered and distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis until they are gone.

Virtual Registration Option
Can't make the race... Participate virtually! Simply sign up for the Virtual Race option and you get to choose the location and time to get out on your own and run/walk your 5K between 6/1/24 and 7/1/24. Feel free to use the FREE IYR Virtual App to track and score your run. You will also be able to manually enter your finish time directly to the IYR Results Page starting on 6/1/24 and ending on 8/1/24. We will automatically mail out your event shirt the week after the race (Continental USA only for shipping).

FUNDRAISING
The Walk for Kidney Health is the main fundraising event for the Kidney Foundation of WNY. Sponsorships, team fundraising and individual donations support outreach, education, patient support and advocacy programs throughout the year. 

POST RACE CELEBRATION
The post race celebration and awards ceremony will take place after the race. Participants will enjoy light food/snacks along with bottled water, music, and more.

PARKING
There will be plenty of free parking at the Buffalo Outer Harbor a short walk from the start/finish line.

AGE GROUPS & AWARDS
Trophies will be presented to the 1st place overall male and female 5K finishers. Age group winners will also be announced and presented with a gift item TBD. All runners can print custom certificates and view finish line photos from the results page after the race.

14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and older.

CANCELLATION POLICY
In the event of foul weather, public safety concerns, or for any other reason deemed necessary by race organizers (ex: state of emergency, shelter-in-place, limit on social gatherings, etc), we want runners to know up front that we reserve the right to reschedule the event OR convert this to a virtual 5K race. There will be no refunds.

TIMING & FINISH LINE SERVICES
Professional timing and finish line services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions. Results are updated throughout the race in real time and can be accessed at any time after crossing the finish line using any one of the following options:
